AGARTALA, Dec 23, 2020 (TIWN): Tripura People's Front (TPF) has called for a 24-hour strike over the recent death of fireman Biswajit Debbarma in Panisagar and the Bru Riang refugee issue in Kanchanpur.

However, the 24-hour shutdown did not have any effect in Teliamura subdivision.

TPF activists tried to block the Teliamura-Khowai road from 5 am but were stopped by huge police and TSR forces.

The activists also tried to stop the train movement by throwing large stones on the local Lakhai Bari railway line. But the Teliamura Police went to the spot and cleared the path.

Besides, according to police sources the Mungiakami police arrested about 14-15 TPF activists in support of the closure.
