Agartala, December 4 (TIWN): Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's meet during PM Modi’s visit here in Tripura blowing wave of debate in the national politics leaving several comments of the leaders of different political parties in the media. Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee criticized Modi-Manik meeting saying that they are the two sides of the same coin.

Though the CPI (M) Politburu member, Sitaram Yechury came out to save the party’s image  saying that Govt of Tripura invited the Prime Minister as part of courtesy .  It is to be mentioned here that the recent Modi's meeting with state cabinet  gave birth to a twist in the national politics and CPIM started distancing itself .

Surprisingly the CPIM party in Tripura and West Bengal are mute watching Manik's showmanship. They are yet to release any press release . In West Bengal and Kerala, Communist Party of India (CPIM had already been defeated . The candle of CPIM in this tiny state of Tripura also started to dim . Out of frustration CPI(M)workers in West Bengal have started to knock the so-called 'communal' party's door as termed by CPI(M)] .Even in Kerala during the last few years, division had been created among the party leaders. The issue of corruption against against the state party Secretary Pinarai Vijayan and the bold stepsvtaken by the then state Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan became a national issue . The honest  Achuthanandan was expelled from the Politbureau as the Vijayan enjoys the blessing of Karat & Co.  Till date a large number of CPI(M) party workers and supporters are unhappy about the humiliation of Achuthanandan.  In addition, party's strength in  Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Punjab has made CPI(M) insignificant as the party failed to make any impact in these states in recently held elections.

In Tripura, however, the foundation of the party is still strong enough. Manik Sarkar is now being marketed as its leader in national politics. Karat is likely to  handover the button of   General Secretary to Yechury. And political analysts say that Manik Sarkar is now making a good relationship with  Sitaram Yechury, likely to be next General Secretary. They opine that Manik Sarkar's sole aim is to break the record set by former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu as the longest regime of Chief Ministership in Indian democracy. And as such he won't hesitate to make close relationship with BJP at the Centre to demoralize Congress, the main opposition in Tripura. And what impact this temporaray hidden alliance will make in future does not seem to bother Manik.
