Agartala, December 4 (TIWN): Why Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had refused to hand over the 50 crore MGNREGA scam under Bishalgarh R.D. Block to the CBI? On the other hand the PIL filed by the opposition for CBI enquiry in progress at High Court. While replying to a question in the Press meet, CM had informed that there is no need of CBI enquiry in this case as State Police themselves are the best investigators on this issue.

The question which primarily arises now is that whether Mr. Clean Manik Sarkar is trying to save his fellow ministers and CPIM party members or not? Because, if any of the accused of MGNREGA scam once opened their mouth,  many CPI(M) ministers  careers, including Chief Minister  will come to an end.

With several close associates of Tripura CM getting exposed in involvement of multiple scams, the opposition parties wondering if Chief Minister Manik Sarkar would resign to save himself from ignominy. Manik Sarkar is known as a most "micro managing Chief Minister “in Tripura's history, so it can be assumed that he was aware of all these major scams by CMs close associate. It is to be mentioned here that, looting of Rs 50 crore from MGNREGA funds in Bisalgarh block,  in which Comrade BDO Bimal Chakraborty is prime accused, Bimal is brother of DYFI State Secretary Amal Chakraborty, followed by Rs 40 crore scam on NRHM in Kailashahar, Rs 90 crore scam in NH44 construction ( alleged that the construction agreement was given to BRO in Rs 90 crore but it could be completed in Rs 10 crore). Obviously the lions share of this money went to the party in power, Rs 20 crore scam in Rupaichhari R D Block,  Rs 25 crore scam in Teliamura R D Department, Rs 35 crore scam in Kailashahar Horticulture Department Rs 15 crore scam in Agri Superintendent Office at Mohanpur( regarding the buying & distribution of potato seeds).

Even the Director of Audit Lalmuna Rokhum had been transferred from his post and was
appointed as OSD of Siphard Department. In 50 crore MGNReGA scam under Bishalgarh R.D.Block, police is playing fake drama in the name of investigation. In the name of interrogation police are taking special care of scamster Bimal due to his close relation with CM, the source added. However general speculation is that, Bimal's powerful brothers DYFI Secretary Amal Chakraborty, TSR Commandant Kamal Chakraborty, Prof Shyamal Chakraborty and Godfather Manik will save him from this "temporary misery". Scamster BDO Bimal also considered as an intellectual and poet by his corrupt patronizers in CPIM Party and Government, he translated former Chief Secretary S.K.Panda’s book "one plus one equals to eleven" in Bengali.

On the other hand, the District Magistrate of Sepahijala, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Goyel was not sure about the tentative date for submitting the investigating report. While talking to the reporters, Mr.Goyel informed that He was not sure of the scheduled date for submitting the report, but approximately within 1 month it may be possible. But in another twist, Mr. Goyel had handed over the duty on the police to submit report. Earlier the Minister of Rural Development had mentioned few days ago, that DM will submit the report soon. But after passing one and half month, till it was not possible.

Now the question which naturally arises was that why both the administration and police are playing hide and seek game on this serious matter of 50 crore scam of MGNREGA under Bishalgarh R.D.Block. Few days ago, Rural Development Minister had said that the District Magistrate of Sipahijala will submit report very soon. But the DM, yesterday had told that it will take few more time and it will be submitted by police.  However, he could not clearly mention the reason of delay behind the submission of investigation report.

In the MGNREGA scam it has been found that Chief Minister himself has taken part in favouring the guilty. That BDO Bimal Chakraborty is his most trusted official is known to all. This clearly proves how much impudent Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has become! This Chief Minister is so much shameless that he has practically removed the skin from his eyes.

It is to be mentioned that under instruction from top brass, the incumbent Block Development Officer (BDO) of Bishalgarh, Subrata Das, registered an FIR on against his predecessor and incumbent Assistant Director of Information Department, Bimal Chakraborty and 11 others, the source mentioned. The alleged scam in MGNREGA fund and a few other Central flagship projects have occurred during past two financial years, according to the report of State audit bureau. Police registered a case in this issue (Case no­135/14) under section409 of IPC.
