Agartala, Dec 1 (TIWN): PM Narendra Modi today met with State Cabinet at Palatana Plant Conference room and discussed on issues related to Tripura. The production of power from OTPC 726.6 MW gas based thermal power plant at Palatana could not be possible without taking assistance from Bangladesh, said Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in the inaugural ceremony of second unit of OTPC plant at Palatana, here today.
“The 726.6 MW Palatana power plant will contribute power in the entire country specially in the North-Eastern region. The state government would start exporting commercial electricity to the neighbouring country Bangladesh shortly”, Chief Minister added.
The chief minister also said, “To generate more power, the ambitious 104 MW combined cycle electric power project at Monarchak plant in west Tripura will be inaugurated shortly.”
After being failed to exploit the natural resources in Tripura for last 30-40 years, Chief Minister today said, “Union Government should take proper initiative to create employment by utilizing the natural resources lying under the soil of Tripura. A urea fertilizer camp and petrochemical industry must be set up in the state.
It is to be noted here; the Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi today dedicated the second unit of Palatana power plant in Gomati district in presence of the five-member delegation of Bangladesh headed by the Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh-Sheikh Hasina and Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Bangladesh- TawfiqueeElahi Choudhury, Delegation of Union Petroleum Ministry, Tripura Governor P.B. Acharya, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Power Minister Manik Dey and other high officials of ONGC, OTPC and state government.
