Journalist was attacked in Belonia allegedly by ruling party activists
TIWN Sep 25, 2020

AGARTALA, Sep 25 (TIWN): Attacks on Journalists continues in a shameless manner in BJP era. In last three weeks journalists from different places across Tripura faced severe attacks by ruling party activists after CM Biplab Deb's "Won't forgive" remark. Yet again, another brutal attack occurred on two photo-journalists of Belonia.

Reportedly, the two journalists were going to cover a news when alleged BJP activists attacked on them. The incident took place in Belonia's Barpathari area.

Earlier this month, Tripura CM Biplab Deb went viral in national media after he threatened a section of journalists of the state alleging that they are over excitedly spreading rumours about Covid situation. "A section of over excited journalists are spreading rumours about Covid situation. History will not forgive them and I, Biplab Deb won't forgive them ever. I do what I say," said De. Media houses and journalists from every corner of the country started condemning his statement and questioned on democracy under his regime.

And after this Statement brutal attacks on journalists have occurred across the state. However, no strong statement against the attacks on fourth pillar of democracy has been made by the CM, leading the situation worsen with every passing day.
