AGARTALA, Sep 13 (TIWN): Within 48 hours of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb had given an open threat to media in his state, in a brutal attack against 'Freedom of Speech' a journalist has been severely beaten allegedly by BJP goons at Ambassa in Dhalai District. The journalist named Parashar Biswas works in Syandan daily newspaper and also in TV channels. Parashar Biswas had condemned Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb's statement of 11th September in SEZ inauguration programme where CM had threatened media in 'mafia-style' saying, "I will never forgive those media who are highly interested to publish episodes on COVID-19 mismanagement". Addressing in a live video, Parashar Biswas had asked CM, "Who are you to forgive media ? Will the people of Tripura forgive you ? Better you develop yourself from your statements like asking unemployed youths to open paan-shops".
The journalist was in a COVID-Care Centre when did the live video and after he was released, he was beaten severely. The attacked journalist himself has shared the photos of him, during treatment in the local hospital.

This incident has once again reminded the state about another brutal attack on Tripura BJP's founding leader Prasenjit Chakraborty on July 3rd, 2020. Prasenjit Chakraborty was attacked followed by his quitting BJP Party and opening mouth against CM Biplab Deb. However, after the attack on Prasenjit Chakraborty, he said that in Tripura all violence are done by Biplab Deb only.
