AGARTALA, Sep 12 (TIWN): Former Health Minister Sudip Barman on Friday after midnight 1.45am rushed to the GB hospital on being informed about down of the oxygen pressure there and nobody was taking care of the matter left a critical patient on verge of death. Infact two Doctors from GB had called Sudip Barman informing about the issue. GB hospital which falls in the constituency of Sudip Barman was reported oxygen flow related problems many times. Even the former Health Minister held press meets, letter written to the Chief Minister to develop the situation but so far not much development has come and in emergency times needed teams are not being spotted. After visiting with experts, Sudip Barman atlast was successful to fix the problem and the oxygen flow was balanced. Later, Sudip Barman has said that the situation is ok and the functioning of oxygen supplying devices are too okay. With this immediate action by the former Health Minister a life could be saved.

Although, it is the duty of the Health Minister that is CM Biplab Deb, but as the former Health Minister who was sacked from Ministry Sudip Barman has completed the duty.

However, after today’s visit, Sudip Barman did not give any statement categorically. He said that an expert man named Ratul has fixed the problem and right now instead of criticising, problem solution is the target. But Barman has said that no operator was there, when he visited GB for oxygen issue. He also said that two Doctors had called Sudip Barman informing about the situation led him to rush here.

On September 7, Sudip Barman along with MLA Sushanta Chowdhury had visited GB hospital and gave few days time to the authority to fix things.  Sudip Barman told media, as no action has been taken even after his press conference and patients’ conditions remained pathetic in the hospital, thus he had to raise the issue again.  Barman has stressed upon IT development in the Health Sector which he already said in September 4 press meet.

“I met GB’s MS and Doctor Subashish Das. I asked them about the mismanagement of the hospital and why people are dying and Doctors have no idea what’s going on inside. People lost trust on GB hospital already. On yesterday a pregnant woman called me, who had to bring food from 5th floor to 3rd floor and the food was also rotten”, said Barman.

Sudip Barman also raised question, why serious, asymptomatic patients are kept together ?

Sudip Barman further has told the Doctors that as this hospital belongs to his constituency, then if by few days, things are not changed then situation may be worsened. The hospital authority allegedly has reported MLA Sudip Barman about lack of help, cooperation from the administration.
