AGARTALA, Sep 3 (TIWN): More than double electricity bills are now have to be paid by consumers of TSECL, one of the highest negative side of the BJP-IPFT Govt in Tripura in last 28 months. From car registration to Medicine bills, Fuel charges - when all are going high, amid COVID-19, massive electricity charges are coming to homes, which has hit the households. But amid all these, TSECL has reported heavy losses whereas common men have sought reliefs. Consumers are expressing shcoks over the increasing charges of the power costs amid slow economy. Question raises, whether common men are bearing all the expenses which Central Govt could not pay to states including Northeastern states like Tripura ? Recently in a press conference, Tripura Congress leader Gopal Roy has called BJP-IPFT Govt ‘Cruel’ for proposing Electricity charges hikes again amid COVID-Pandemic situations have put the common men in trouble already.

“All know that in January month, 2020, it was announced by the State Govt that  exempting the consumers till Rs. 400 of power bills, 5% tariffs will be imposed on the others whose bills to be above Rs. 400 and in commercial 7% tax was increased. But now amid COVID-pandemic, Govt has taken another decision to hike the charges and requested the electricity regulatory commission for permission to hike charges. How anti-people, cruel is the BJP-IPFT Govt can be to take such a decision ? I condemn this”, said Gopal Roy.

“In Vision Document they talked so many big things. In poverty gripped states, Govts are relaxing power bills but our Govt is increasing it. This is totally an anti-people decision”, said Roy.

“I like to request the MLAs to talk for the people in the Assembly as after all they were voted to work for the people”, said Roy.

Talking about COVID-deaths, Gopal Roy said in such a small state 65 deaths are truly matter of concern.

“I have seen few machines are bought but this is not enough. I would request the Govt for another All Party Meeting to solve the situation”, said Gopal Roy.

Roy further asked the Govt to take crime against women cases very seriously as number of gang-rape, dangerous crimes on women are alarming.
