AGARTALA, Aug 27 (TIWN): Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) allegedly is not conducting Viva-voce i.e. the oral examination of candidates who has been declared to be selected by the Commission on the year 2016. The date was selected on September 1 of the running year. But due to the COVID-19 outbreak the Commission have postponed the date for an indefinite period. However, TPSC is conducting various other examinations during this time, including taking viva-voce of the 140 Sub-In-spector candidates that is scheduled to be concluded on August 28.The selected candidates have raised questions on the role of TPSE. In 2016, TPSE have circulated the notification of 45 TCS & TPS candidate’s selection. However, the appointment was delayed due to a lawsuit field in the Tripura High Court.

Although the HighCourt  gave it’s verdict mentioning to conduct the exam on 2017. Thus the exam was completed following the judgement of Tripura HC. But in 2018 Samudra Debbarma challenged this decision of HC and the single bench of Tripura High Court asked TPSC to re-conduct the exam freshly. The Commission now challenged this judgement in the division bench of Chief Justice. The Bench of Chief Justice and Justice Arindam Lodh on December 3, 2019  upheld the order of the single bench.

The Commission then completed the Mains exam and announced the result of selected candidates on 24 January. Although the Tripura High Court on March 16,2020 has ordered to complete the viva-voce within two months but till now the Commission haven’t come up with the fixed date of viva-voce for selected TCS TPS candidates. Which indicates the complete negligence of the order of High Court by the TPSC, leaving the selected candidate’s future in a sheer uncertainity.

Currently 150 TCS posts are lying vacant causing major problems in running the State Administration.
