BISHALGARH, Aug 20 (TIWN): On the occasion of former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi’s 72nd birth anniversary, BJP activists allegedly held attacks on Congress’s vehicle at Bishalgarh on National Highway, asking them to “go back”. Congress activists were going to Agartala led by Subal Bhowmik to join Rajiv Gandhi’s statue inauguration programme. When Police were informed, massive team rushed to the spot, controlled the situation but BJP activists allegedly held attacks on police personnel too. After that, miscreants were lathi-charged by police and few left injured, as per primary observation of the unexpected incident. Then a huge team of BJP gheraoed Bishalgarh Police Station seeking Second OC-Bimal Baidya’s suspension.

Talking to media, Congress leader Subal Bhowmik has said that Congress will continue fight like this and will not tolerate attacks days after days. Today the team was going to Agartala to join Rajiv Gandhi's statue inauguration programme. 

BJP held "Thana-Gherao" after in police's lathi-charge their Mandal President of Charilam was injured, whereas Police personnel were injured too in this clash and police's immediate action controlled the situation.
