Agartala, November 26 (TIWN): On the 6th anniversary of the Mumbai terror attacks, Bir Bikram Memorial College students today paid rich tributes to the security personnel who laid down their lives fighting terrorists and protecting others during the terror attacks and also paid tribute to the victims and martyrs.
"We remember the horrific terror attacks in Mumbai on this day in 2008 and pay homage to the martyrs, innocent men and women who lost their lives. We salute the brave security personnel who laid down their lives to protect several lives on that fateful day. They are our true heroes," said General Secretary of the College, Sankar Sarkar. "Today is a day to reaffirm our commitment to work together to combat the menace of terror and uproot it from the face of humankind," he added.
He further said that, the recent up growing of terrorist camps at Punjab and Haryana should be immediately stopped to protect the country from the enemies.
It is to be mentioned here that November 26 and 27, 2008, most fateful days for Mumbai as eight places of India’s financial capital were attacked by terrorists. Taj Gateway, Oberoi, CST Terminus, Santa Cruz Airport, Colaba and 2 hospitals were the places which bore the brunt of cowardly and inhuman acts by Pakistani terrorists which were linked to Jamat-ud-Dava a terrorist outfit supported by Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT).
At least 166 people were killed and 293 injured when ten Pakistani terrorists struck at various locations in Mumbai simultaneously. The lone terrorist Ajmal Kasab who was captured alive during the attacks was later hanged to death after trial on November 21, 2012.
