AGARTALA, Aug 7 (TIWN): Tripura’s Amra Bangali party has accused Centre for attempting to suppress Bengali language.

Addressing media, a party leader said, “Education is very important section for any country. Time to time various reviews took place to develop the Education system and so many commissions came to handle the education system but the present Education Commission based on Kasturi Rangan Committee’s report has presented one-way mentality of the Govt and by force it’s trying to impose many tings. The new policy is trying to suppress many things too at the same time”

“Hindi imposition has become more visible. Moreover, in the name of mother-tongue education, the Bengalis who are staying in other areas where local language is not Bengali, they can’t learn Bengalis anymore”, said Amra Bangali.

“After Class-6 there are few languages which to be trained including Sanskrit, Malayalam, Telegu, Oria etc but why there is no place for Bengali language ? Bengali is recognized by world and noble prize was brought by Rabindranath Tagore with that language and today why this language should be deprived ? Among the 5 languages mentioned by NEP, Bengali is indeed the most popular and famous worldwide”, asked Amra Bangali Party.

The Party also raised question, why among the Educationists there is not a single Bengali ?

The Party also alleged, taking opportunity of COVID-19, Govt is proceeding with such undemocratic decisions even not by consulting the states.
