AGARTALA, July 27 (TIWN): Villagers in Mungiyakami area of Teliamura subdivision stopped medical team from entering their village for survey, saying 'medical team may spread the infection in village.'
The villager sits in agitation without wearing masks and maintaining social distance amid lockdown. They made a blockade saying, "When Tripura government has declared three days of lockdown, how the medical team is coming here? What if they spread Covid-19 in our village."
The SDM, SDPO and other administrative members rushed to the spot immediately. When the SDM tried to convince the angry villagers one of them said, "There's no Corona virus in Tripura. In other countries people are dying in a large number and here, all the patients are going to quarantine centers and coming back after few days while clapping."
She also added, "We all are completely fit and fine, if something happens there is a hospital in our village, we will go there. But we won't allow any other people to enter the village."
At last the SDM with her team had to leave the place without any survey. She said, "If they don't co-operate with us, we can not conduct the survey forcefully. Even the government also said they have no intention to forcefully impose anything on the people."
This erupted a situation of tension in Mungiyakami amid lockdown. The medical staffs had to face a sudden shock from the villagers. This exposes the lack of proper public awareness in the state. Where the doctors and other medical staffs are working day and night to fight against the crucial time, such behaviour is completely unexpected.
