Kailasahar, Nov 24 (TIWN): Following the poor quality construction of a school building at Rangrung Madhyamik School under Chandipur Assembly constituency, resentment is prevailing among the residents of Rangrung adjacent to tea-estate under Chandipur Assembly Constituency in Kailasahar sub-division. The construction for the school building was started four months back. A cost of Rs. 57 lakh has been estimated for the establishment of school building. The construction is in progress under the Rural Development Department.
The locals alleged that, an engineer of Rural Development Department- Chinmoy Nath was assigned as implementing officer for this construction. But he does not visit the construction site regularly handing over the responsibilities to a mason- Maya Miah as sub-contractor, they said.
As a result, the establishment of the school building is in progress in a dismal condition. He has been failing to maintain the quality of construction, they added. Even, the residents are unable to reach the concern engineer as his mobile remained switch off.
A 3-member staring committee which was constituted to supervise the ongoing construction also raised allegation on the same issue. The Head Master of the school reported to the concerned department following the poor quality of construction for several times but the authority did not pay any attention.
The residents have demanded to improve the quality of ongoing construction for the school building by assigning an appropriate implementing officer.
