Agartala, November 21 (TIWN): The condition of the Tripura Road Transport Corporation in Barjala is deteriorating day by day. According to a official, the higher authorities were well informed about the matter but the higher authorities did not look into the matter for once.

The official further said that for the last ten years no proper steps were taken by the higher authorities to solve the problems. We informed the higher authorities several times regarding the issue but they assured us only but no steps were taken by them, the official added.

We further informed to the then Managing Director, Rabindra Reang regarding the issue but he to also did not took any proper step, for once only he visited the Barjala TRTC and assured us that he will look into the matter. But the situation was at large. Mr. Reang was shifted from his duty on October 30th.

From 1st November, new M.D, R.M Malakar had taken over the charge. But no initiative was taken from his stand also. At present there were only sixteen employees working in the Corporation.

During the rainy season we even cannot sit inside office because raindrops fall into the room.

One of the employees claimed that despite lack in manpower, some of them were taken to other departments for clerking work.

Despite ongoing improvements in the sector, several aspects of the transport sector are still riddled with problems due to outdated infrastructure and lack of investment in less economically active parts of the state. The demand for transport infrastructure and services has been rising by around 10% a year with the current infrastructure being unable to meet these growing demands; people are facing difficulties to get administrative service due to acute shortage of manpower in this branch of TRTC. Though almost all offices need officials and staff, the situation is very deplorable this sector of TRTC which severely affecting the normal works. People find it difficult to get various important works done by office due to shortage of manpower.
