AGARTALA, November 21 (TIWN): CMD of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), D.K. Sarraf and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary Sourav Chandra today visited the Palatana Thermal Power Project to review the ongoing preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tripura to inaugurate the Commercial Generation of 363.3 MW Unit-II Combined Cycle Gas Turbine(CCGT) Thermal Power Plant at Palatana.Talking to TIWN, ONGC Tripura Head (General Manager and Asset Manager) V.K. Mahawar said that the top officials of the Ministry of Petroleum along with other local officials inspected the Palatana Thermal Power Project site and later held a meeting with the state govt. officials about the ongoing works of the Palatana. During the meeting the top officials from the centre advised CM Manik Sarkar, the things needs to be done during PM Modi’s visit", said V.K. Mahawar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit here at the state to inaugurate the 363.3 MW Unit-II Combined Cycle Gas Turbine at Palatana Thermal Power Project. And today ahead of PM Modi’s visit here at Tripura, CMD of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Govt. of India D.K. Sarraf and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary Sourav Chandra today visited the Tripura Udaipur Palatana Thermal Power Project to review the ongoing preparations.
V.K. Mahawar also added that, the central officials also met with the Tripura Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (TNGCL) officials today, and asked them to make a proper utilization of the Gas.
Later asked about the visit of the PM Modi, V.K. Mahawar said that the officials had not yet confirmed the date of the Modi’s visit here in Tripura. But PM Modi may take either of the three dates – November 29, 30 andDecember 1 to arrive here in Tripura and inaugurate the Commercial Generation from 363.3 MW Unit-II of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine(CCGT) Thermal Power Project at Palatana, said V.K. Mahawar.

ONGC CMD D.K. Sarraf and Union Petroleum Secretary Sourav Chandra met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and discussed formalities on Prime Minister's visit. However the officials of the Ministry of Petroleum, Govt. of India had already left for Delhi today evening in a special flight.
A top official in the Petroleum Ministry said that the Centre is trying avoid any kind of last minute troubles like the Unit-I of Palatana, which was inaugurated on 21st June 2013 by the President Pranab Mukherjee.
As of now it is scheduled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Tripura by a special flight in the morning of 29th November and from Agartala Airport he will straightway go to Palatana by a helicopter and after inaugurating the COG from the plant he will travel to Assam.
