AGARTALA, June 21 (TIWN): RBI Brick Industry workers in Tripura's Boxonagar, under Sonamura subdivision have left for home at West Bengal by feet. They started walking at night 1 am after a verbal fight erupted between the factory owner Subrata Boxi and the labourers with their family and children have reached Chandrapur in Agartala. Then the police looked into the matter and stopped the workers who were going to West Bengal risking their lives. They were spotted in Chandrapur bus terminal. On being asked by media, the workers said that huge amounts of funds were gathered by the owner of the factory to take the workers back to home but no help was done. This is the 5th lockdown going on but in pathetic conditions, the workers are bound to live. They also alleged that when protested, owner group also had beaten the labourers physically. Asking the authority, it said, physical tortures on workers not to be tolerated and administration will look after the matter and take action accordingly.

Questions have raised on the role of the Labour Commission which is already under controversy in recent times due to its favouristism to the owner groups.

The workers said, they will go to home by feet if Govt does not help them.
