AGARTALA, June 19 (TIWN): In a shocking information it has been known that 2 girls were molested by a Tripura Govt worker during their quarantine period. The accused Rajib Kanti Deb is a Panchayat Secretary.

In a brief, Kumarghat police said, “Kumarghat RD Block BDO Mithun Das Choudhury has lodged the complaint. On June 3rd he was first informed that Panchayat Secretary, Takchoi Village was engaged to take information about quarantined people. On June 2nd he went to a girl’s home and collected her number. Then he continued to call her saying he is a health staff. Then he started disturbing her led the girl to complain to the village chairman. Then after discussion, this issue was handled with mutual understanding”.

“But after the case, on June 7 the BDO got another information that Rajib Kanti Deb in similar way harassed another girl. This time he went to the girl’s home and in the name of checkup, he sat on the girl’s stomach and assaulted her. When the girl scolded him and made him out of the home, he continued to harass the girl in phone. Then case was lodged and police is now interrogating the case”, said the police official.

Once again it is proven that Panchayat should not take control over administration which might be full of uneducated, unverified background people. However, BJP Govt has recently increased Panchayat members’ power, now proven as a wrong decision.
