AGARTALA, June 18 (TIWN): Protests were held on Thursday in Agartala against the killing of 20 Indian soldiers in Ladakh's Galwan Valley by China. Agitators called for a boycott of Chinese products and burnt effigies of President Xi Jinping at several places. A protest was organized by ‘Crime and Corruption Control Awareness Society’. The organization has called for rejection of Chinese products and to ban Chinese Apps. Congress, BJP also have staged protest against China, paying tribute to the martyrs. While India has said that 20 of its troops, including a Colonel – Commanding Officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment – were martyred in the violent clash, China has not officially said anything on casualties its Army suffered. However, Indian armed forces sources have said that the PLA is believed to have suffered casualties in the incident. Indian sources put the number at 43 dead or injured, while US intelligence reports have put the figure at 35.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi once again hit out at the Narendra Modi government over the killing of 20 Indian soldiers by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in an unprecedented attack in Ladakh's Galwan Valley and asked why soldiers were sent "unarmed" to martyrdom.
