AGARTALA, June 3 (TIWN): With the Coronavirus patients in rise in Tripura, a 150 bedded COVID-19 care centre has been opened in the International Fair ground in Hapania under Tripura Medical College (TMC) hospital. Superintendent Dr. Arindam Dutta said, “As per Govt order, it had to be done and there are 500 bed capacity but for now 150 beds are ready and if numbers of patients increase, then numbers of beds also to be increased. Only patients without symptoms or with mild-symptoms to be kept here in the COVID-19 care centre”. TMC Doctors under guidelines, will be taking care of the COVID-19 patients. Tripura COVID-19 cases continues to rise with 520 persons so far tested positive and 173 were cured. A patient who was COVID-19 suspected committed suicide in GB hospital and after her death, she was tested positive. Among the travellers and also people without travel histories are reportedly being tested COVID-19 positive. TMC hospital is located at Hapania, beside National Highway near the main city Agartala.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma said that cases to be increased, it is natural but things can't stop for the sake of economy as it is now a joint battle. One is against Corona and another is against Slow Economy. 

Also in Jail, Coronavirus outbreak was reported. An undertrial who was arrested a few days back in connection with drug smuggling, tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura.

Tripura government spokesman and Law and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that in all 29 contacts of the undertrial man, including jailors and undertrials were identified and their swab samples would be tested.

Police said that the man was arrested from Madhupur under Sepahijala district (in western Tripura) under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and lodged at the Central Jail in Bishalgarh, 30 km south of Agartala.
