AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): In a major development, Tripura Police have cracked down Bangladesh’s illegal citizens group with 10 persons who are professional illegal border crossing persons, crossed India-Bangladesh border at Rs.2,000 and sometimes Rs. 1,500. The arrested 10 youths said that they are actually from Bangladesh, came to Tripura before 7 months and working as masons but with incomes gone during COVID19 Lockdown, they tried to escape to their own country again in illegal ways at Rs. 2,000. On being asked about the brokers of border crossing process, the Bangladeshis said that they are not aware about their identity who help them to corss the borders. However, how far truth is there in their statements, police will now investigate. Also, each of them to be taken for COVID19 tests. Tripura Govt already alerted border areas and asked people to jointly keep vigil on the borders. With COVID19 massive outbreak in 2 BSF battalions, Tripura Govt also deployed Tripura State Rifles Jawans on borders. CM had long back called for “Janata Curfew” to control illegal entries. Right now, Tripura has 86 CIVID19 active cases.

The Bangladesh citizens also denied to tell media about any owner’s name under whom they worked. They said, they used to tell everyone that they are from West Bengal and had no categorical owner but wherever they got works, they did.

They entered via Akhaura and was caught at Rajnagar area.

(TIWN earlier reported based on local workers' statements about illegal Bangaldesh workers' very much presence in Tripura which was causing work-crisis in the state in winter season. Today, it is proven that allegations of local workers are not false. Bangladesh workers work at cheaper prices, causing work-crisis for local workers. However, this is the first ever such a case was unearthed where for 7 months long construction workers were residing illegally in state Tripura)
