Special Trains : Tripura Govt announced to send back stranded Workers to their States & to bring Tripura’s stranded people to home from other States at State Govt’s expenditure

AGARTALA, May 7 (TIWN): Finally, Tripura Govt has taken a major decision to solve the stranded people’s issue inside and outside the state. CM Biplab Deb has announced that the State Government has decided to send 33 thousands of workers stuck in the state by trains at own expenditure, which will cost Rs. 2.5 crores. The state government is also arranging to bring back the state citizens who are stuck in Bangalore and Chennai through two trains. In this case also full cost will be carried from CM Relief Fund. The people of Tripura have not to pay to return state. On the other side, stranded students from Kota in Rajasthan have returned state. Earlier, Tripura Govt was paying to the stranded people as per reports and Govt had kept a budget of Rs. 3.88 crores for COVID19 pandemic led ‘stuck in people’ of the state Tripura in other states, who could not return Tripura due to unprecedented lockdown, which is going to continue till May 3rd.

Total 6000 people sought financial helps from State Govt, Law Minister Ratanlal Nath said in a press conference.

The Railways started running Shramik Special trains from May 1 to ferry home migrant workers stranded away from their homes in different parts of the country.
Opposition parties have accused the government of charging money from the labourers for the train journey.

However, the government has said 85 per cent of the fare is being borne by the Railways and the remaining 15 per cent is borne by the state government on whose request a train is being run.
As of Wednesday, the Railways said it has ferried home over 1.35 lakh migrant workers in more than 140 Shramik Special trains.

In Tripura, the whole expenditure to be carried by State Govt.
