Tripura Govt sought details on ‘origin’ of COVID19 spread in BSF138  camp at Ambassa : Out of total 42 cases, Tripura's 40 positive cases from BSF 138 Bn

AGARTALA, May 6 (TIWN): As the primary source of the COVID19 spread in BSF 138 Bn, Tripura Govt likely to order a probe in the case. State Govt has already issued a letter to BSF IG to provide details of COVID19 cases among BSF Jawans, Families at the 138 unit. In a letter written to the IG of BSF, Principal Secretary to the Govt of Tripura Barun Kumar Sahu has written, “I am directed to state that some positive cases of COVID19 have been found with the persons of BSF 138 Bn and their family members. I would therefor request you to kindly inquire into the matter and furnish the following information….” The information was sought for : 1) The origin of the cases, 2) Steps taken by BSF authorities to further prevent spread of Corona virus to general public. The information was asked to send to the Home Dept immediately. On Wednesday night, 13 more fresh cases were reported in Tripura as COVID19 positive, triggering public caution allover the State. Numbers of active cases are now 40 and all are from BSF 138 Bn, either Jawans or kids or unit staffs.

All were residing under 138th Bn at Ambassa (Dhalai District) where on May 1st, two positive cases were reported.

Recently, the Congress party has demanded a CBI probe or formation of SIT by State Govt to probe the virus’s primary source.

Tripura's first COVID19 patient was tested on April 6 and then April 10 with same travel history via Tripura Sundari Train.

Soon after both recovered, Tripura was announced COVID-Free but from May 1st to May 5th, the numbers of positive cases have hugely increased. Right now, total active cases are 40.
