AGARTALA, May 6 (TIWN): Reacting over media reports and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s condemnation on science stream closure from various schools of Tripura, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath said, “Where is Govt’s decision ?†He said, "Tripura Govt had never taken such decision, but if SMC decides, we will check the issue". The statement from Minister Ratanlal Nath came after former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar condemned Govt’s decision of closure of many schools and recently taken decision science stream closure in at least 25 schools of the West District. The Minister said, such allegations are baseless and wrong. Govt has not taken any decision yet like this.
Ratanlal Nath also cited that in 2017-18, ADC which is run by CPI-M Govt had closed 28 schools due to zero students enrollment, asking, “If they (CPI-M) can do, there is no problem, but if we do, then there are so many criticism ? Am I bound to the opposition that I have to answer them on each step taken by Govt ?"
"From 3 days, such controversies are going on. I felt bad. Guardians may think, what the Govt is doing when COVID19 crisis is going on”, the Minister added.
However, with Ratanlal Nath’s statement, it is clear that Govt for now would not think about to close science streams in schools, which generated massive controversy among public and also in social media.
The whole criticism erupted centering an official notification claimed as 'unearthed by media', where Education Dept was found taking decision to close science streams in 25 schools in the West District.
