AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, April 20 (TIWN): With viral media reports disclosing neighboring country Bangladesh is not maintaining lockdown, 3 sided bordered Indian state Tripura’s Chief Minister Biplab Deb led Home dept has tightened border patrolling with Bangladesh. But, Government has appealed the masses to strictly observe border areas by not allowing any outside to enter in the state amid COVID19 pandemic. Addressing the state’s people, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, “Via media reports, it was disclosed that Bangladesh is not maintaining social distances. Bangladesh is a friendly country of India but in this crisis situations, we, the people of Tripura have to be more tough against any illegal entries from that country. Home Dept has beefed up border securities but that is not enough. Tripura has huge unfenced border areas, hill-tracks, with high possibility of illegal entries which needs to be stopped by the common men.

Along with BSF, public have to keep vigil all the time on border lines”.From Govt sides, time to time, awareness is being done in Bangladesh border areas, requesting them not to allow any outsider to enter here.

This decision was taken after media reported, how thousands of people on Saturday defied the countrywide lockdown to attend the funeral of a Muslim cleric in Bangladesh, triggering fears of rapid spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The news media in Bangladesh reported that thousands of people, without masks and in clear violations of social distancing, participated in the funeral prayers of Khelafat Majlish's 'Nayeb-e Amir' Maulana Zubayer Ahmad Ansari, held at a madrasa in Bertola village under Sorail Upazila of Brahmanbaria district. The cleric had passed away at his home last night.

However, from the very beginning, Tripura Govt has sealed not only Bangladesh borders but various border areas with neighboring Indian states, resulting Tripura is going to be announced as COVID19-free state soon, but if new case comes out, it will be highly upsetting.

This state has given a tight fight to COVID19 from the very beginning. 2 persons who were tested positive are now stable. Relaxations have been given in few sectors but with social distances and Chief Minister on Sunday night also announced clearly “Lockdown to be continued till May 3rd tightly without any loopholes”.
