AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, April 13 (TIWN): AMC has completed its stocks of cloths by stitching masks. All the cloths were given by traders, as the AMC had not to purchase a single cloth.

Now, with the massive project going on, AMC has appealed to traders to provide some cloths to AMC so that mask stitching can continue without disruptions.

In drive led by AMC Commissioner Sailesh Kumar Yadav, in major development at least 7,000 masks were supplied to Health dept whereas more 5,000 masks to be supplied tomorrow. This is a role played by AMC in fight against COVID19.

Yadav’s this unique pilot has not only given a support base to the Health Dept but it has generated livelihood in the lockdown.

The projects have been given to women having self-help groups and per piece the women are earning Rs. 10.

The present capacity of AMC is 3500 per day. & of all Urban Local Bodies is 5000 per day.  As Director Urban Development, Sailesh Kumar Yadav himself  had started in all ULBs to supply to all Districts.

“Agartala will soon scale up to 5000 per day as there is huge demand. Only problem is we are facing shortage of 100% cotton cloth. All traders of cloth may be appealed to provide it to us. A lot of women are getting employment as women get Rs 10/- per mask as stitching cost. Cloth & thread we provide from our side. If a woman stitches 100 masks a day, she gets Rs 1000/- as income”, said an official source of the AMC.
