AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, April 10 (TIWN): When nationwide death tolls touched 199 in COVID19 outbreak in India along with first death reported in neighboring state Assam, in Tripura, awareness among masses are far from reality giving tough times to state police to maintain 'social distancing' guidelines. On the 17th day of national lockdown, uncontrolled gathering was observed before various gas agencies in Tripura with central govt announced three free gas cylinders to poor / BPL beneficiaries. However, on roads, tight securities have been deployed and with unnecessary causes public are not allowed to move. Govt also has announced strict actions against law violators. Today, footages displayed, how the gathering of people totally had broken the social distances and public crowded just like gatherings of railway stations through out before each gas agency which are distributing cooking fuels. It has erupted massive resentment among viewers and need for home delivery was thus felt.

Police immediately rushed to the spots and controlled the situation as much as possible. Whole day police are on ground to tackle the situation but even after one patient was found positive, people seem have not much concerns. On the other side, Northeast India reported the first COVID19 death in state of Assam.

Tomorrow Prime Minister Modi will interact with all Chief Ministers on Lockdown extension.

PM Narendra Modi indicated to legislature party leaders that the lockdown may have to stay in place beyond April 14 given the state of the battle against the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Modi told the floor leaders of political parties in Parliament that several state governments, district administrations and experts have asked for an extension of the lockdown, likening the situation to a “national” and “social emergency.” The three-week lockdown is scheduled to end o ..

“I have been speaking to chief ministers and district collectors… the common refrain is that it is not easy to lift the lockdown,” the prime minister said. “We need to be strict in implementing social distancing norms. So be it lifting or extending the lockdown, the general mood is that it will not be possible to lift the lockdown at once.”

Modi has called another meeting of all chief ministers on April 11 for consultations, after which the Centre could take a final decision on the lockdown.
