Isolation Railway Coaches set to fight COVID19 emergency situation in Agartala Railway Station as ‘Preparedness’

AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, April 9 (TIWN): Although only one COVID19 case has been found positive in whole Tripura and all 17 persons who came in touch with the COVID19 patient were tested negative, but the State Govt is not leaving any stone unturned to be prepared for the emergency situations might erupt in future with the global pandemic. Agartala Railway Station is all set with prepared isolated wards for future’s COVID19 patients. Total 15 coaches have been used to make the isolation ward whereas in each coach 9 beds remain. All the beds have reportedly been prepared. After the coaches were set by Railway Ministry, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, “I thank Rail Minister of India Mr. Piyush Goyal for placing isolation/Quarantine Railway coaches at Agartala railway station as preparedness in national efforts against Covid-19. In case of extreme emergency these coaches equipped with latest medicine facilities will be used to save precious lives at different locations”.

On the other side, in a sigh of relief for now, all the 17 quarantined people who were earlier considered ''high-risk'' as they came in contact with Tripura''s first COVID-19 positive patient. The information about the testing results as 'COVID19 Negative' has been given by Chief Minister Biplab Deb. 

The 44-year-old woman was tested positive for the disease on April 6 and was now under treatment in the state- run Gobinda Ballabh Pant Hospital here.

"Total 17 people who were in close contact with the COVID-19 patient of Tripura have been tested to be NEGATIVE after 2 times testing. All of them are still under surveillance in quarantine," Deb said in a Twitter post on Wednesday night.

While 42 people including doctors, her family members and relatives are in institutional quarantine, 66 others are on home quarantine. Of the 42, 17 were earlier considered high-risk.

"I urge everyone to cooperate with the government and not to panic. If you need any assistance, please contact the government. We are working round the clock to ensure safety of every citizen," he chief minister added.
