AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): Central trade unions gave a call for a nationwide general strike on January 8 against government's alleged failure to respond to demands of workers. As many as 10 central unions announced the strike in national open mass convention of workers, as per a joint statement issued by them. Ex-Minister Manik Dey said that beyond party barriers those who love the country must come to support the strike.

CITU, CPI-M’s trade union led by ex-MP Sankar Prasad Dutta and ex-Minister Manik Dey called a successful strike on that day sitting with other trade union leaders.

CITU informed that Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to be a part of CITU’s protest on 8th January.

As a part of the upcoming strike schedule, preparations and campaigning have been started in Tripura in full wave.
