BELONIA / AGARTALA, Dec 24 (TIWN): In another parody of democracy under BJP rule and public’s losing trust on State Police, Belonia Police has allegedly acted in totally politically biased manner and instead of registering case against the BJP activists against whom FIR was lodged, police filed a suo-moto case against CPI-M local top leaders, arrested and via court sent them to jail. Reportedly, against total 19 activists (both CPI-M, BJP) FIR was lodged and among them 9 are CPI-M. CPI-M local leader Arup Saha and Pradip Majumder were arrested and sent for 14 days jail custody. CPI-M has demanded to withdraw the alleged fabricated case’s against the party members and a deputation was placed before the SP Jal Singh Meena with details of the incident. Nonetheless, video footage has shown how massive stone pelting injured police officials before the CPI-M’s rally.

BJP activists led massive attacks in CPI-M’s rally which was organized on Thursday against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has generated violent incidents in Belonia subdivisions of the South Tripura District. Along with nationwide protests, CPI-M in Tripura’s all subdivisions also organized rallies, gatherings but in South Tripura from the beginning BJP didn’t allow a peaceful march and attempted to generate a violence over there. Even after having police permission as soon as CPI-M’s rally reached at Tilla-No-1, suddenly stone pelting started from front by the BJP local activists which left many police officials injured and Police asked the CPI-M to stop rally. CPI-M agitators then returned to the party office and started gathering, public speeches before the Party office but the BJP activists rushed to that spot also and due to massive disruptions, the gathering was closed and the programme was cancelled. Belonia's a top CPI-M leader said that the allegation of autocracy in the state along with the whole nation once again proven, but CPI-M will not stop protest against undemocratic CAA.

Action demanded against BJP hooligans, although how far actions will be taken it is clear as public lost faith on the administration already, said a CPI-M local leader.

Earlier, various regional parties and indigenous cells of opposition parties staged protests against CAA>

Nationally this protest is getting intensified.  Protests staged globally against this dividing law in the secular and democratic country.
