AGARTALA, Nov 26 (TIWN): At least 11 deaths have been reported in one month related to food and poverty, as after 6 Brus died in starvation in the Kanchanpur, couple committed suicide after poisoning own children, now one businessman committed suicide inside his shop on Monday, generated mass tension and resentment in capital city Agartala. The last incident of suicide took place at Battala, where the owner, 42 years old Bimal Saha committed suicide in his own shop, a local Bengali newspaper has reported and also local businessmen who didn’t want to reveal their identity has blamed the slowdown under the BJP Govt. In last one year Bimal Saha allegedly turned debt-ridden, used to stay frustrated. What hitting the businessmen is that along with slowdown, taxations, license fee etc.

Surveys say that the zero-deficit budget presented by BJP Govt first ever in Tripura, not only burdened common men with massive taxations in the recent months, but also unemployment issue has turned the most burning problem in the state, as the State Govt is now not interested to recruit new employees unless vacancies are created by retirement or quitting jobs.

Reacting over the taxation rows, Congress leader Gopal Roy told media, “So many taxes were imposed in the recent times by the Lootera Govt. Earlier health tax which was again one black law, indeed Tughlaqiuan law. Then license fee, property tax, power tariff. What not the Govt is doing ? No rules and regulation but only Tax, Tax and Tax. This is nothing but a KHASHAI (Butcher / Slaughter) Govt”, said Roy.

BJP Govt and its leaders pointed out as 73% of the budget goes to the salaries of the employees, thus unemployed youths must be “Job Creators” instead of ‘job-seekers’, whereas the crisis situation is another reflection of zero-deficit budget’s negative outcomes where a state although does not like to be dependent on the central govt but imposes heavy taxation on the common men.

So far fuel, electricity, trade license, municipality, health services, pensions, water-taxes are subjected to be taxes in addition of slowdown of markets and Govt’s inability to provide rural mandays.

Losses in business in the last festival season : 70% loss in Durga puja’s garment markets to other festivals were reported by many local medias. A tight economic condition for businessmen remained in this Durga puja in Northeast state Tripura resulted from moneyless conditions from house to house.Critical economic situations across markets in Tripura rural and urban bodies, aided by massive business losses at No-Customer, So-Sale like situations generating worries as if an Economic disaster is approaching towards.

During Kali puja also, the same loss allegations were brought by businessmen here.
