AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN): Along with the nation, 150th Gandhi Jayanti has been observed on Wednesday here in Tripura to commemorate the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (October 2, 1869 - January 30, 1948) in several parts the state.
Congress led by leader former CM Samir Barman, Gopal Roy, Birjit Sinha, Subal Bhowmik, Panna Deb paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhighat. Also before Congress Bhawan a programme was conducted to mark the occasion by flag hoisting followed by “Pada Yatra”.
Addressing media, national leader Bhupen Borah applauded Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violence, peace and truth based ideology.
He said, Congress will start massive movement to reach out the generation with Gandhi’s ideology which unites all religions.
All religions people in their own costumes marched a rally jointly and chanted Mahatma Gandhi’s name.
