AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Sep 30 (TIWN): Govt of Tripura has decided to file SLP in the Supreme Court over the High Court’s verdict on banning of ‘Bali’ that is the animal sacrifice process in Hindu temples.
Addressing media, Law Minister Ratanlal Nath said, Govt respects High Court’s order and also concerned about public reactions and their sentiments on the “Bali” system. Many have welcomed the decision of High Court and many are opposing it.
“Govt is by the people and for the people, not bound by any personal thoughts”, said Ratanlal Nath.
So in an unbiased move, Govt has decided to file SLP in the Supreme Court. He said, it will be better if a larger institution reviews the decision.
“Other religions are one God-based religions like Muslims and Christians, but in case of Hindu religion there are various thoughts and various Gods, Gurus. For a Tantrik, the Bali may be meaningful whereas Hindus have place for them also who do not believe in existence of living-God (atheist). The matter is thus very sensible and thus we have decided to send it for SLP as there are options for that”, said Ratanlal Nath.
