JICA Rs. 1.10 crore Scam : Scam tainted forest dept in Tripura amid ministerial gimmickry

Agartala, October 28 (TIWN): Alert signs have turned miserable in another multi-crore project of JICA Kanchanpur Forest Department scam in Tripura where money laundering mounted to a mammoth sum of Rupees 1 crore 10 lakh adjustment between the financial years of 2011/12 to 2012/13.

State Forest Minister Naresh Jamatia has transferred the Ranger in-charge of that department Prasenjit Debbarma and replaced the position with Sujit Chakma, which could be suspected as another political gimmickry designed by Tripura government to sustain in its administrative muscle flexing in the state tainted with corruption.

The scam has various loopholes in the case related with JICA project for a prolonged period in Kanchanpur subdivision which could be estimated to be around Rupees 5 crore in last four Financial Years since 2010/11.

Several planned projects are yet to get a constructive outlook with manipulated malpractice in fund management by the head honchos of the department via back door deals by maintaining hotlink with certain administrative bodies of the state.

The projects allotted for Dasda, Anandabazar, Jampui subdivisions in addition at forest department of JICA also surfaced many corrupted deals that highlighted a financial gap of adjustment in audit reports. As per report of source, the JICA project being planned has not yet met a target of 20 percent of the total sanctioned plan.

It is mentionable here that, in the meantime; the scam was in its peak during the posting of IFS Officer Wangdip Bhutia during his tenure of one and a half years in Tripura Forest Department.
