AGARTALA, Sep 21 (TIWN): By-elections in four states including Tripura’s Badharghat (14) constituency has become crucial for the national parties BJP, Congress, CPI-M as Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced huge numbers of elections in the upcoming October month. Tripura Congress leaders stated that this election’s victory for any political party will deliver a message about the situation of the country which is suffering from massive crisis, poverty and public are bearing heavy resentment against the ruling Govt. The by-election for the 14-Badharghat Legislative Assembly constituency (SC) will be held on September 23, in the seat which had become vacant after the demise of BJP MLA Dilip Sarkar. Today was the last date of election campaigning. Along with Tripura, by-polls will be held for the Hamirpur seat in Uttar Pradesh, Dantewada in Chhattisgarh and Pala in Kerala on September 23. The counting of votes will be held on September 27.
Next By-Polls : Bypolls to 64 Assembly seats in 17 states and one Union Territory will be held on October 21 and the results will be declared on October 24, the Election Commission said on Saturday.
The poll panel announced the schedule for Assembly bye-elections to 15 seats in Karnataka, 11 seats in Uttar Pradesh, five seats each in Kerala and Bihar, four seats each in Gujarat, Assam and Punjab, three seats in Sikkim, two seats each in Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan and one seat each in Arunachal Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha and Puducherry.
The EC said the notification for the bye-elections will be released on September 23. The last date for filing nominations is September 30, it said, adding that the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done by October 1.
Assembly Polls: Assembly elections for the 288-member Maharashtra and 90-member Haryana assembly will be held on October 21, the Election Commission said on Saturday. The results will be declared on October 24.
The poll panel chief said that elections in Haryana and Maharashtra would be held on October 21, 2019, and the results would be declared on October 24.
While 90 seats will be up for grabs in Haryana, Maharashtra will see a battle for 288 seats.
During the briefing, Arora reassured all stakeholders about the quality of EVMs.
Tripura Election has now become a major concern due to massive political violence occurred in all the elections recently held including Lok Sabha Election. Election Commission has assured parties about a “peaceful election”.
