AGARTALA, Sep 2 (TIWN): West Tripura District Magistrate Sandeep Mahatme has ordered Section-144’s imposition on Monday at the 2 kilometer area of Tripura High Court area at the onset of hearing of the 10323 teachers case which was filed by the terminated 10323 teachers to save their jobs in a last attempt. This order by the DM was given on urgent basis to maintain the law and order situation. A source has informed that since the morning 9 am gathering was reported in the High Court area by the teachers which erupted tensed situation. Understanding the gravity of the situation, DM West has imposed section 144 of the Cr.P.C with restrictions as no gathering of beyond 5 persons at any place, no roaming of bike with 2 or more persons. Such restrictions are given around 2 KM of the High Court.

10323 teachers filed a case in High Court who are now appointed as ad-hoc teachers. One Sajal Deb, who is among the 10,323 teachers said Govt’s decision of continuation of 10323 teachers jobs as ad-hoc is arbitrary. The petitioner claimed many teachers were appointed at the same time but their jobs were not cancelled.

The case of 10323 teachers turned sensitive after one teacher Surajit Debbarma died in heartattack and his family members said that due to insulting remark against 10323 teachers in a talk show he died.

After colleague Surajit Debbarma’s death due to heart attack allegedly in tension hearing an insulting remark by an advocate in a local TV channel’s talk show, the 10323 teachers held a condemnation rally, marched with candles. 10323 teachers directly have blamed the BJP Govt for the death of the teacher. Teacher Bimal Saha said, “Our colleges will be dying and you will see the “tamsa”, it can not happen. Within 15 days take a decision in the cabinet or our step will be hard If Govt want to hold power, Govt has to solve 10323 teachers issue”. The 10323 teachers are undergoing tremendous pressure as their ad-hoc termination is coming closer. On June, 2020 the teachers will end their job tenure as ad-hoc teachers under Supreme Court’s order. The 10323 teachers also have warned people not to insult 10323 teachers as “Supreme Court” didn’t say that 10323 teachers are unworthy.

Teacher Bimal Saha said, “For our colleague’s death, only State Govt is responsible. The Ministers do not have time to meet us. Also I warn everyone for the last time to control their mouths before insulting 10323 teachers. We are not subjected for humiliation, Supreme Court didn’t say that we are unqualified”.

On the other side, 381 persons who filed petition against 10323 teachers recruitment corruption have demanded equal treatment by the Govt. In 2014, High Court in the judgement also asked State Govt to provide jobs to petitioners.

According to Supreme Court’s order the 10323 tecahers of Tripura will lose their ad-hoc extension by 2020, June 31st. Since 2014, the terminated 10323 teachers have continued their battles for existence after Tripura High Court in 2014, 7th May terminated all the teachers spotting irregularities in recruitment. The situation started to be critical due to previous CPI-M Govt’s ego against petitioners and instead of providing them jobs according to High Court’s order, the Govt started the battle in Supreme Court and finally Supreme Court in 2017 held High Court’s decision. Now, this is the ultimate time when final decisions about 10323 teachers will be taken.

The 10323 teachers fist lost their jobs in High Court’s verdict in 2014 due to irregularities in recruitment. Then the previous CPI-M led State Sovt managed stay order on High Court’s order by appealing Supreme Court and after much delays in the hearings, finally Supreme Court also in 2017, March 29 terminated all the teachers but with humanitarian view Supreme Court permitted all the 10323 teachers to continue their jobs till December 31st, 2017.

When CPI-M led State Govt repealed in Supreme Court to extend their jobs for 1 year, Supreme Court extended the job for 6 months on ad hoc basis and finally only 27 days have left for the teachers final terminations. BJP Govt then appealed in Supreme Court to extend the teachers jobs beyond June 30, 2018 for more 2 years. BJP to urge Supreme Court to extend those teachers jobs till 2020, 30th June and SC also extended for 17 months to control the teachers’ crisis.
