KADAMTALA (North Tripura), Sep 1 (TIWN): In a shocking news, massive ganja (cannabis) recovery was reported from an ambulance at Kadamtala on Sunday in a joint drive of Police and BSF. The drive took place under Kadamtala Police and Tarakpur BSF’s joint attempt. The ambulance carrying ganja was going from Dharmanagar (Tripura) to Silchar (Assam). It has been known now that this was an old trick to smuggle ganja and other contrabands from Tripura but police could not guess it till before BSF 166-Bn, Tarakpur had informed police about it on yesterday night. Both BSF and Police remained alert since yesterday night resulting in massive success today morning. Planwise, the BSF and Police were checking at Kurti-Jherjheri border routes and got success. Today morning the ambulance bearing number Tr05-2991 while passing through it was caught red-handed but the driver managed to escape. On the vehicle it was written “Jibanrekha Labâ€, which belongs to Chandrapur road in Dharmanagar subdivision in North Tripura District. 197 kg of ganja have been seized from the ambulance, worth over 9 lakhs.
The driver is absconding but police said, from registration number of the vehicle police will gather all information from the Transport Dept.
This can be considered one more major success for Biplab Deb Govt under his “Nesha Mukt Tripura”.
Under Add DGP Rajiv Singh, this movement of the State Govt has gotten a momentum and drug smugglers are rattled across Tripura.
North Tripura SP Bhanupada Chakraborty is also reportedly using various sources to nab all the smugglers across his district and over 1 crore of seizing in the North Tripura happened under his observation in last 1-year.
Assam Rifles, BSF, TSR all are jointly assisting to seize drug networks at the root-layers.
