New suspense in Bishalgarh’s MGNREGA Scam: Special Audit Report finds embezzlement over Rs 50 crore : Congress to file PIL on Monday

AGARTALA, October 26 (TIWN): New suspense in the multicrore scam of MGNREGA under Bishalagarh R.D.Block. Total amount of money looted by the then Block Development Officer Bimal Chakraborty, his godfather, Bhanuda and other comrades exceeds to Rs 50 crore, instead of earlier reported 17 crore.So, instead of 17 crore multicrore scam, it is now 50 crore multicrore scam.A special audit had been done by the Tripura Pradesh Congress in the Kolkata’s AG Department (Headquarter of Eastern Region), where the secret of Rs 50 crore was revealed. With all these scam documents and Accountant General's report, Congress would file PIL for CBI enquiry in the High Court tomorrow.
Earlier, Opposition leader, Sudip Roy Barman informed that, “We shall move to High Court seeking CBI probe regarding the massive MGNREGA scam of Bishalgarh Rural Development (RD) block worth Rs 17 crore and file PIL after puja holidays. We shall also appoint an eminent advocate from Kolkata to move the litigation”, added Barman. He also claimed that not only 12 persons, more than 105 government employees are allegedly involved in this multicrore scam. He also mentioned that the embezzled money would exceed more than 17 crore.
In the meantime, a delegation of Congress leaders went to Kolkata and requested a special audit report by the officers of AG Department. The special audit report claimed that the scam is Rs 50 crore and there is chance of increase of this amount. After that the report was handed over to the delegation team. This would be presented by Congress in the High Court, at the time of filing the PIL.
Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman met Tripura Governor PB Acharya at Raj Bhawan and highlighted the financial irregularities in Bishalgarh RD Block. During the meeting, Barman said that the state government did not take any stern action against the officials involved in the scam, also involvement of Minister Bhanu Lal Saha is visible.
It is to be mentioned her that, after exactly a month and three days since incumbent BDO Subrata Das lodged FIR against BDO Bimal Chakraborty and 11 others in Bishalgarh P S alleging misappropriation of MGNREGA fund of Rs 17 crore, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's specially favoured aide 'Bimal' ultimately surrendered before court of the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Purander Prasad Pal.
SDJM granted 5 days of police remand to Bimal Chakraborty, He will be produced before the court again on 27th October...However, police played a little drama by demanding 10 days of police remand against Bimal Chakraborty. However this whole drama of surrender was pre-planned by Manik lobby and Bimal's brothers to fool people and judiciary. Bimal's brother TSR Commandant of 11BN Kamal Chakraborty's wife Sushmita Chakraborty is the Personal Assistant to Purander Prasad Pal, SDJM, and Bishalgarh. So one can imagine the fate of this mock surrender as Police treating Bimal as VIP.
Other than that, after tremendous pressure from all corners and widespread media publication on the RS 17 crore MGNREGA scam BDO Bishalgarh RD Block Subrata Das lodged FIR against the then BDO of the block Bimal Chakraborty in Bishalgarh Police station.
Police registered a case in this issue (Case no-135/14) under section409 of IPC. The special Internal Audit Report of MGNREGA for the FY2012-13 and FY 2013-14 massive misappropriations of more than Rs 17crore was found. The special Internal Audit was done during 05/05/2014 to 30/06/2014.
