KAILASAHAR, Oct 25 (TIWN) : As the physical condition of the two injured constables namely Jasmine Debbarma and Indrajit Das worsened, they have been referred to G B Hospital today. Last evening these constables were severly injured by a group of smugglers who attacked on the police when police went in Debipur village to raid the house of smuggler Nazir Ali to recover Bidi items illegally hoarded by him to sell in Bangladesh. Meanwhile SDPO Kailashahar Sudipta Das lodged a case in the Irani Police station against the culprits who have been identified by the police involved in yesterday's incident.
The border adjacent to Irani, Debipur, Maguruli, Rangauti, Latiapur etc villages are open fields for smugglers and anti-socials. Almost 6 months ago the smugglers cut the veins of a ‘G’ Branch officer of BSF. Even the SDPO was once humiliated in the hands of smugglers in the Kailasahar market. Still why without adequate TSR and other forces and with women constables, SDPO raided Debipur at night and made his cop seriously injured on Thursday last, is the concern of the common people. The role of BSF is not out of scanner. Though the SDPO sought their assistance, only three BSF jawans accompanied his troop. Some top officials and retired higher- up cops are of the view that, this incident will damage the image of police to the common people. However, when contacted, both the SP and SDPO denied to speak in the matter.
O C Irani P.S Bibhash Das told that police is investigating in this incident and very soon the culprits will be arrested though they are absconding. This incident once again raised the topic that when police themselves are not secured, how they can give security to the common mass.
