AGARTALA, Aug 19 (TIWN): On the month of second anniversary of hunger-strike, the irregular SSA teachers in Tripura have reminded the BJP Govt about its various promises given to the SSA teachers, sheltering which the teachers hoped for a secure future once the BJP Govt comes in power, unseating the CPI-M Govt from the power. In the social media, sometimes by hitting, sometimes by pinching and sometimes by requesting the Government, the SSA teachers are demanding to be regularized as various states in India have regularized the teachers. Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, J&K have regularized the SSA, RMSA teachers, a report in 2018. Such reports were the main reason which had kicked off the movements of SSA also in Tripura.

So as after 17 months of BJP rule, Tripura Govt didn’t work on the regularization of SSA teachers, the teachers have now reminded the Govt with evidences what they promised before election as opposition party. Observing a hunger strike movement of the SSA teachers in 2017 from August 1st to August 7th, the BJP as opposition party not only promised to regularize them but also in its Vision Document BJP scripted promise, “Regularization of all contractual teachers” once BJP came in power.

The ongoing August month is the period when 7 days long hunger strike which was conducted in CPI-M regime in 2017 brought a revolutionary sentiment among all irregular employees. Many teachers fell sick during hunger strike, hospitalized.

On that time, Ratanlal Nath promised before media, “We will regularize the teachers once we are voted to power”. Nath is now the Education as well as Law Minister of the state.

The association organized various mass movements demanding regularization. Total 5,145 teachers and 399 non-teaching staffs are in this Association.

While kicking off movement of SSA in 2017 the agenda of the SSA teachers for regularization were :

1. For the sake of 'Quality Education', regularization is necessary,

2. As per RTE and various letters to the Central Govt the teachers must be considered as regular teachers,

3. First Tripura Govt has to appeal the Central govt for this and thus this job should be done by Tripura Govt first,

4. Tripura Govt in 2011-2012 already asked the central govt to regularize the teachers and central govt also agreed,

5. As per 2015's RTI data, 5,145 teachers P.A. bill and in 2017-18, fund for 5,808 teachers were  sanctioned from centre,

6. Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha in an interview said that SSA teachers are being paid at regular scale !

7. Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Himachal Pradesh, Orissa Govts have regularized the teachers  in their states.
