AGARTALA, October 21 (TIWN): Along with the country Tripura police also celebrated the Police Martyr's Day at A.D. Nagar police ground here today.
While speaking in the programme, I/C Tripura Director General of Police K. Nagraj said October 21 is observing as Police Martyr's Day across the country to commemorate and pay a heartley tribute to those dedicated brave souls who made supreme sacrifices in laying down their lives in services of nation and its people while battling the divisive, anti-national and anti-social elements.
A total of 662 police personnel of Tripura police were killed in the state while on duty. Only one police personnel was killed in the last year, he said. He further informed that not a single police personnel has been killed this year.
He also said a commemoration week was observed from October 15 to 21 throughout the state. On these days, various schools, colleges, youth clubs, associations, citizen groups were invited to visit their neighboring police station and interact with the police officers.
Chief Secretary G. Kameswara Rao, I/C Director General of Police K. Nagraj, IGP (law and order) Anurag Dhankar and other senior police officers paid floral tribute to the Martyr's.
