NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, May 28 (TIWN): National Congress has demanded immediate deployment of Assam Rifles troops in Tripura to control the law and order situation which is deteriorating in the state. Tripura Congress President while addressing media at AICC headquarter in Delhi, also asked media to have equal focus on Northeast states which are sharing borders with foreign countries, but just because Tripura like states are not considered as important by national just like they treat Delhi or Kashmir so the actual ongoing situations, crimes, lawless happenings are never come to the nation’s knowledge via media. Pradyot Manikya also blamed ruling BJP's leaderships saying that after Assembly Election result, lots of goons from CPI-M and smugglers have entered in Tripura-BJP to save itself from the Govt action, which is right now the biggest challenge before the Government. Addressing media, Pradyot Manikya announced that demanding compensation from the State Govt and Election Commission, against the damaged done in last 5 days since result declaration of Lok Sabha Election, Congress is moving to the Supreme Court of India citing an example of a similar case filed in 1993 which was won by Tripura Congress.

“We are moving Supreme Court and will demand that the people who were killed their families should be given compensations, those whose houses, shops were vandalized or burnt should be given compensations. Citizens of Tripura deserve compensation regardless their identities of Congress, CPI-M and BJP”, said Pradyot Manikya.

“For over last two months law and order has been completely broken down in West Bengal............you (media) have reported, but Tripura’s condition is too same. But, it was not reported”, added Pradyot Manikya,

“If the Police can not handle it, then Assam Rifles should be deployed. Tripura already positioned with Assam Rifles troops. Additional DGP’s (Rajiv Singh) was removed from law and order by Election Commission during election season, which proves the status of law and order in Tripura”, said Pradyot Manikya. (Rajiv Singh after the election, has been given back to his past position by Biplab Deb Govt, who was dismissed by Election Commission)

“If state police can not save Tripura, please bring in the Assam Rifles and restore law and order which comes under MHA. Tripura is a bordering state and foreign countries are taking profit of this loose law and order”, he added.

“For country’s safety we are demanding deployment of Assam Rifles troops, not only as a political matter. Election is ended and it’s time for healing. If you don’t heal and continue to take revenge, then coming days will be more dangerous”, he added.

The press conference was chaired by Pawan Khera, Tripura Congress President Pradyot Manikya, Tripura Congress senior leader Pijush Biswas and others.
