AGARTALA, October 17 (TIWN): Where is BDO Bimal Chakraborty since 27 days ? Where is he kept hidden by his godfather ? After getting immense pressure from the Governor P.B. Acharya finally the police conducted a series of fake raids in the name of investigation in the houses of BDO Bimal and four persons who were directly involved with the multicrore scam of Bishalgarh R D block.Interestingly, not even one among 18 accused in FIR was arrested in connection with the Rs. 17 crore scam at Bishalgarh RD Block even after law enforcement spending considerable time.

After these fake raids various questions are arising in the minds of the people.

1. Why the police came to action after so many days? Who is ordering police for not taking any action ?

2. Is the police are trying to protect the scamster Bimal Chakraborty?

3. Why the so called clean Chief Minister Manik Sarkar did not comment anything regarding the issue?

4. Is also the Chief Minister is trying to protect the scamster Bimal?

5. Why the police are unable to arrest any of the 18 accused till now?

When contacted the officer-In-Charge of Bishalgarh Police Station Kanti Lal Baidya did not say a word regarding the multicrore scam of Bishalgarh RD block. Neither any top level police officers dared to open their mouth.

Also it is true that ample time over 3 weeks were given  to all accused to destroy all possible evidences and shift the ill-gotten money from 17 crore scam.

According to the sources, it is alleged that,  at present the police also trying to hide the remaining  evidences due to high level political pressure.

It is to be mentioned here that, after tremendous pressure from all corners and widespread  media publication on the RS 17 crore MGNREGA scam BDO Bishalgarh RD Block Subrata Das lodged FIR against the then BDO of the block Bimal Chakraborty in Bishalgarh Police station . Police registered a case in this issue (Case no-135/14) under section 409 of IPC.

It is also to be mentioned here that, Scamster Bimal is the brother of DYFI State Unit Secretary Amal Chakraborty. Apart from this his another brother Kamal Chakraborty is now the Commandant of 11 BN TSR . Bimal was appointed as a Panchayat Extension Officer in MataBari RD Block way back in 1997 from the very beginning Bimal was under the scanner of his higher-up officials due to his suspicious behaviour. But none could have dared to do anything as he hails from a politically influential family of the ruling party CPI (M).  A highly placed source inside Melarmath said that," In the recently concluded state committee meeting of CPI(M) , a section of Melarmath Think Tank also demanded that CBI probe should be ordered in the Rs 17 crore MGNREGA scam. As expected Chief Minister Manik Sarkar rejected such probability. But what is more interesting outcome of this meeting is that,  in spite of a landslide victory in 2013 Assembly Election, many leaders expressed their doubt as to whether the party will be able retain its power in 2018 as scams, rapes, tortures against women, Dadagiri of a section of leaders and acute crisis in basic amenities in recent times have risen at an alarming rate.

Moreover, leaders have also expressed their concern that MGNREGA scam is now a hot topic in the state purely due to non-functioning of police as the prime accused is Chief Minister's close aide." The source also added that this was probably the first time that CPIM state committee members expressed their doubts over the attitude of Manik Sarkar in the last decades, especially after his seemingly weak attitude shown towards Bimal Chakraborty.

According to TIWN sources Bimal's elder brother Prof. Shyamal Chakraborty and DYFI state Secretary Amal Chakraborty met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar soon after the IAR submitted to CMO and told him that Bimal was made a victim under instruction from the then Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury. And the sources add that immediately after this meeting Manik Sarkar himself took the files of Internal Audit Report ( IAR) and assured Bimal's brothers that he would look into the matter. And within 7 days of that ' crucial meeting' Cabinet was reshuffled and Finance Ministry was taken away from Badal Chowdhury. Now the situation is such that barring a few loyals of Manik Sarkar, majority of CPI(M) state committee members want that the case should be handed over to CBI for probe. Under such situation Chief Minister instructed police to make this ' Show Piece' of raid. As expected police found nothing in any of  houses they raided.
