Agartala, October 17 (TIWN): Showing deep concern over the issue of children, the Supreme Court of India summoned the DG and Chief Secretaries of four States including Tripura to present before the court within 30th October to brief a detailed report on the case of kidnapping of children and the preventive measures taken in this regard.

Following a petition filed by Nobel Peace laureate Kailas Satyarthi's child rights group, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, the court had earlier directed many states to file a compliance report regarding complaints of missing children.
The statistics shows that more than one lakh children’s were missing from the year 2008 to January 2010. However, among them some are kidnapping cases of human trafficking.

Still now, some states did not file the status reports and the states which filed the report did not include the required information. Sending a stern warning to all states, a bench headed by Chief Justice HL Dattu asked them not to show negligence about the security of the children. It also asked the chief secretary of Karnataka and Tripura to be personally present on the next date of hearing to brief it about their proposed action plan.

On the other hand, the bench said that it would not hesitate to summon top officers of the state if such incidents occur repeatedly in their jurisdiction. The bench said it is disturbing that such incidents are going on and despite several orders passed by it.

It is to be mentioned here that because of the negligence of the State police and administration, the rate of kidnapping of children are increasing day by day.
