Netizens slammed State Govt for massive water logging in Agartala, said, ‘Let’s swim’
TIWN May 15, 2019

AGARTALA, May 15 (TIWN): Few hours raining has caused massive water-logging in the capital city Agartala. Netizens have exchanged war of words as the water-logging problem has increased rather than decreasing, whereas Chief Minister Biplab Deb promised from 2019 no water-logging will have to be faced by the people. Netizens have slammed the Govt, cracked jokes like “Let’s swim”, few wrote, “Ocean Agartala” etc. The city has been locked in water-logging, vehicles are immovable, people are unable to move out of homes. Referring Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s previously made promise to the people of Tripura that from 2019 there will be no water-logging in the city, opposition have pulled Biplab Deb’s leg. Huge publicity was gained by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb in 2018 by walking on knee-level water at Agartala city, blaming the previous CPI-M Govt, assuring no more water-logging will be seen in 2019. At first he said, in 2018 there would not be any water-logging and then he modified his claim asking the people of Tripura to give him one year and there would not be any such water-logging since 2019. On May 18, Chief Minister Biplab Deb slamming the previous CPI-M govt for constructing unscientific drainage system across the city Agartala in last 25 years said that BJP Govt will now solve all the issues. Biplab Deb said “Now Govt has changed and so the work culture will also be changed. Within 15 days I have ordered to recover the drainage system of the city. Hence, no flood this year will be experienced. It’s not possible for me to compete all works within 15 days or 1 month and when already monsoon has been started, work can not be continued much in drainage system's recovery”.

“Agartala city, especially my own constituency Banamalipur is hit by water-logging problems every year. Before the election, they asked nothing from me but urged to end the water-logging problem of the locality. I appealed the common men to allocate me few time as in one day I can not complete all drains. Unscientific coverage of the drains led the city to flood in each monsoon. That’s why I have immediately released Rs. 7 crores, but in this monsoon nothing much can be done. However, I assure that in the next monsoon there will be no flood”, Biplab Deb told media.

But today the Govt is extremely lacking public sympathy when in each dept the Govt has been failed with its zero-deficit budget.

However, as damage repairing, Law Minister Ratanlal Nath already told media that AMC’s negligence is stopping development.
