AGARTALA, April 18 (TIWN): With another shocking display of naked-democracy under Chief Minister Biplab Deb in Tripura it has been known that Additional Secretary to CM Millind Ramteke was sent to the RO of East Tripura Vikash Singh and was tried to be influenced to manipulate the election procedure, however could not be succeeded. The report was disclosed by CPI-M State General Secretary Gautam Das in a press conference at Agartala. Addressing media here, Das alleged, “It was attempted by the BJP Govt to manipulate the vote of East Tripura by influencing the Returning Officer at there. A secret meeting was conducted for that particular work. We have complained to the Election Commission of India”. “BJP is afraid to face people and public opinion and that’s why all such violence are going on”. Noteworthy, BJP East Tripura candidate Rebati Tripura was issued by a notice from the RO East Tripura Vikash Singh regarding his election expenditure. Sources informed, Rebati Tripura spent over 70 lakhs already in election campaigning.After massive violence, Polling to Tripura East parliamentary constituency, on April 18, has been deferred to 23rd August.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sriram Taranikanti, "To create conducive situation and (arrange) deployment of adequate additional security forces, the polling was deferred by the Election Commission. We would make all efforts to improve the situation in the Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency”.

He also said, Commission has taken the decision to make sure “no repetition of West Tripura’s poll rigging episodes”.

CPI-M which earlier alleged 364 booths were captured in West Tripura, now said, after collecting more evidences the number of confirmed rigged booths are 774.

Election Commission has already accepted in total 836 complaints.
