AGARTALA, March 19 (TIWN): Under Biplab-Pratima dominance on Tripura BJP party, BJP State Vice President Subal Bhowmik has resigned from BJP to join Congress on Tuesday. While addressing media, Subal Bhwomik said almost all top BJP leaders and other supporters who joined BJP from Congress have telephoned him and appreciated his decision. Being asked by media why he is quitting BJP, Bhowmik said, “I don’t want to be burden for my party. When proposal came to make me President then many people objected and in case of my MP candidate-ticket also same happened. In this condition, I can not be more neglected and burdened for BJP”. It came in report that Subal Bhowmik may be the next MP candidate of Congress. However, being asked by media, Bhowmik said, “Whatever party will ask me to do I will do. I will do my assignment. I was 25 years in Congress and only 5 years was in BJP. For BJP I shed my blood as my one and only aim was to unseat the communist"."But, as I don’t want to be a problem for BJP anymore, thus I have decided to quit. Bhowmik also said, thousands of calls are coming to him, including Ministers of BJP and all have said, his decision is correct", he added.

Subal Bhowmik was the earliest leaders of BJP who joined the party quitting Congress and known as the "backbone" of BJP in Tripura. He joined when Late Sudhindra Dasgupta was the State President of BJP.

Today, Subal Bhowmik met Congress National Secretary Bhupen Borah and State President Pradyot Manikya along with other Congress leaders at the Royal Palace. Bhowmik's joining programme is at 1 pm.

Tomorrow during Rahul Gandhi's visit, Subal Bhowmik will remain present on the dais.
