AGARTALA, March 18 (TIWN): All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Bhupen Borah has arrived in Tripura on Monday keeping National Congress Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s visit on March 20. Being asked by media regarding the purpose of his visit, Borah said that his visit is aimed to hold a preparatory meeting for Rahul Gandhi’s visit on March 20. Replying a media query, Borah said, “There was no talk about any alliance yet in Tripura Election”. A grand welcome was given to Bhupen Borah by Congress top leaders including former MLA Gopal Roy and leader Prasanta Bhattacharjee. A mass gathering is expected on that day as Congress ST cell held an internal party meeting centering Gandhi’s arrival. StateCongress leaders said, it’s hopeful to win Lok Sabha Election in Tripura even though in last Assembly Election, Congress lost massively. As the ruling BJP which was formed by ex-Congress supporters at the same time are losing ground due to 1 year of misruling and the ex-Congress members are now joining back Congress.

 It was also reported that Congress National President Rahul Gandhi sent verbal invitation message to former Congress leaders cum present BJP Ministers and MLAs to rejoin Congress party.

Tripura Lok Sabha election to be conducted in two phases on April 11 and April 18. However, from the part level no announcement about Gandhi’s visit plans was announced.

Rahul Gandhi during his Assam visit said, the Northeast Congress committee is made with various flavours of sentiments and confidence.

Gandhi further asked his Congress members not to fight election with hatred, but by love as at the end ‘Hindustan is always won by brotherhood’.

 During Northeast visit, Congress National President Rahul Gandhi while interacting with Northeast  Congress leaders has said that he is expecting 20+ seats from Northeast may be 22 out of 25.

“Congress is going to win 2019 Election. This is the reality and nobody can stop Congress to win”, said Gandhi.

“Congress will win at least 20 seats, but not less than 20. Here in Northeast, in wrong way Congress Govts were removed and one after one we have to bring back the Govts of Congress”, said Gandhi.

In Tripura, CPI-M and IPFT have announced their candidates whereas Congress and BJP yet to announce candidates’ names.
