New Delhi / Agartala, March 7 (TIWN): Even though Congress said that in Lok Sabha election, the party will give candidates, but the Left parties has sought a negotiation to avoid vote-division. The battle for the two Lok Sabha seats in Tripura might see a two-pronged contest between the Left and the BJP, with the Congress staying out of the fray. This, sources said, is a proposal put forward by the Left to the Congress, keeping with their policy of a larger political understanding with the grand old party that aims at keeping the BJP from winning as many seats as possible nationally. The proposal, sources added, hasn’t yet been accepted officially by the Congress high command with the Congress’s state unit pushing against it. On February 24, answering a media query, CPI-M State General Secretary Gautam Das said, there is no chance of future alliance of CPI-M with Congress in this upcoming Lok Sabha election.Gautam Das said, there are only two seats in the Lok Sabha and thus, CPI-M has to give own candidates, rather than compromising with others.CPI-M however has urged the Election Commission to send central forces as soon as possible, as everyday attacks are turning lives miserable by the ruling party.

Congress National President Rahul Gandhi is also visiting Tripura on March 20.

Gandhi is expecting 20 seats from Northeast in Congress’s favour.

On March 2nd, Tripura Congress State President Pradyot Manikya has warned Congress never to think about any alliance with CPI-M in Tripura, because the day any alliance with CPI-Mwill happen, he will leave the President’s post.Pradyot Manikya, who is the Royal scion of Tripura’s Manikya dynasty has alleged that CPI-M since the beginning was indulged in huge enmity with his family.

“Congress has bad-names in Tripura that it has secret alliance with CPI-M. Let me make it clear that CPI-M did lot of enmities against my ancestors. So, there is no chance that Congress will align with CPI-M in future as soon as I am the President”, he said.
