AGARTALA, Feb 2 (TIWN): Tripura Congress’s new State President Pradyot Manikya at his felicitation programme has briefed about few changes he wants to do inside party as a State President.Among those changes, he talked about elevate women party members with their deserved posts which other parties do not do.Also Pradyot Manikya mentioned, the party must lead by young educated people and those who are not corrupt and involved in any illegal activity. Manikya welcomed people to join Congress and work with him. His stand for his Tiprasa community said, will remain unchanged. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on February 25 appointed Tripura royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarman as the state party President and today State Congress welcomed Pradyot Manikya under massive celebration. Huge numbers of Congress supporters gathered at Congress Bhawan to greet Maharaja Pradyot Manikya as Congress President. Various religions’ people also participated in the welcoming ceremony and a rally was organized in this regard.

The 41-year-old, who has been actively working for the Congress since 2008, replaced Birajit Sinha, a former Minister and five time legislator. Sinha was the Tripura Pradesh Congress President since January 2015.

Pradyot Manikya, whose father Kirit Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarman and mother Bibhu Kumari Devi were Lok Sabha members for several terms, told IANS that he would constitute several committees and a state body at the earliest in consultation with Gandhi and other Central and state leaders.

"I would try my best to further rejuvenate the party in Tripura in unity with all senior and young leaders and party workers," he said at Guwahati after the announcement on February 25.
"During his day-long tour, Gandhi would address a public rally in Guwahati and would also hold a discussion with the Northeast Congress Coordination Committee (a forum of Congress leaders from the northeastern states)," Manikya added.
